On February 12th, 2023, the time had come – it was time for us to please board. After a welcome drink on the Balmalp, we were escorted to the gondola entrance by Pauli, the gondola butler. Here, the first bottle of champagne was served to us. The table was already set, the benches were cushioned, and even curtains adorned the gondola. With a sound system, we were able to connect our phone, allowing us to play our own music in the gondola. Thus, the smallest restaurant in Arlberg was very cozy. Occasionally, our conversations would pause because we were captivated by the panorama. Round for round and meter by meter, there were always different views and panoramas. At the mountain station, the empty plates were cleared away, and the next course was served. For food, we ordered beef tartare, Hütten pizza, and a few oysters. I still dream of the beef tartare! After the second round, our gondola butler Pauli attentively served us the 2nd bottle of champagne. And for us, it meant two more rounds of marveling and enjoying. After about 1.5 hours and with full stomachs, we left the gondola and returned to our starting point at the champagne lounge at the mountain station. We then enjoyed another glass of champagne with our friends, featuring a 360-degree panoramic view of the beautiful mountain world. Happy, satisfied, and full of new impressions, we reflected on our hours in the gondola. We would book this gondola experience again and again. Thanks to the entire team of the Balmalp as well as the Zugerbergbahn for this unique experience.
